The Airport Ambassador Volunteer Program at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

Travelers Aid invites you to join its friendly team of volunteer ambassadors.

Travelers Aid volunteers are problem seekers and problem solvers.

Travelers Aid is an information resource center designed to assist passangers and airport guests traveling through the region: (i.e. Ground Transportation, Hotel Accomodations, Flight Information, Way Finding, Local Events, Convention Information, Airport Services and Lost & Found).

Travelers Aid works with and assists a variety of people from all walks of life.

Travelers Aid extends prompt, courteous assistance to senior adults, persons with special needs, children traveling alone, business travelers and international visitors.

Travelers Aid helps lost passengers find connecting flights and families.

Travelers Aid provides special attention to those individuals who may have become stranded.

Travelers Aid helps runaway youths return home by means of the Interstate Compact program.

Travelers Aid helps airport staff with special events and other duties as needed.

Travelers Aid often serves as a referral center for travel agents, airline representatives, the airport community, human service agencies as well as other airports worldwide.

Travelers Aid is Visable, Reachable and Accessable.

The Wayne County Airport Authority is committed to providing the highest standards of care for its thousands of guests that arrive each day.

Identified by their distinctive red vests, our volunteer ambassadors can be found throughout the ultra modern facilities at Detroit Metropolitan Airport providing for a variety of vital services, whether originating from the Information Desk or as one of the many Terminal Rovers.

The Airport Ambassador Volunteer Program proactively promotes a positive airport experience based on friendliness and efficiency. Travelers Aid is proud to work in partnership with the WCAA to provide for exceptional customer service one guest at a time.

ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT

DESCRIPTION:

The Accounting Assistant reports to the Accountant assuming accounting support and general clerical duties by his/her supervisor. Duties are inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative Activities:

  1. Utilization of SAGE/MIP accounting software for cutting Core Services checks; to add and maintain vendor files in MIP and office filing system;
  2. Utilization of QuickBooks software to track and report client rental information and to assist Case Managers with information needed regarding clients;
  3. Responsible for taking, transcribing, and distributing Finance Board minutes; contacting and sending monthly board packets for CFO;
  4. Records cash receipts up to and including deposit at financial institution;
  5. Copies accounts payable documentation and payroll distribution reports for month end billings;
  6. Track billing amounts and match payment receipts for accounts receivable invoicing by program;
  7. Contact person for resolution of issues regarding cash receipts and cash disbursements;
  8. Take direction from and assist  the Accountant as directed;
  9. Provide other clerical support to Finance/Accounting departmental staff;
  10. Use time management techniques to achieve company goals and objectives timely and efficiently;
  11. Maintain current and orderly alpha/numeric filing systems;
  12. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel software applications;
  13. Prioritize, multi-task, problem-solve, and take initiative to achieve goals;
  14. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision;
  15. Organize documents and workload by coordinating and disseminating document paper flow;
  16. Distribute and track distribution of paychecks to employees; pulls payroll documentation from payroll reports necessary for Accountant to journal bi-weekly payroll;
  17. Maintain confidentiality of employee, client and other information at all times;

Documentation:

  1. Ensure timely completion of all relevant accounting documentation.
  2. Collaborate with Accountant to develop and implement procedures for Accounting reporting.
  3. Compile monthly, annual, and others reports as directed by the Accountant.

  1. None

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Job-Related Background and Preparation:

  1. Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or at least two years job related experience and/or training.

SALARY RANGE:

Dependent upon qualifications.
